Fabric-A-Brac

Clear out your stash (or score a great bargain) for charity! Fabric-a-brac is a stash-clearing event that happens all over NZ and Australia- come along to Brisbane's own Fabric-a-brac to support Karuna Hospice.

Fabric-a-brac wants fabric out of the closet & in your hot little hands. Pick up fabulous vintage, unusual & modern fabric, trims, buttons, patterns and more at bargain prices & help someone clear their sewing cupboard!  If you’d like to sell your stash (or part of it), email fabricabracbris@gmail.com.

Entry is a gold coin donation to Karuna Hospice, and a percentage of stallholder fees go to the Hospice. The Hospice will also have all kinds of yummy baked goods, tea and coffee for sale!

Fabric-a-brac Brisbane
25th August, 2012 12pm-5pm
State Library, Queensland Auditorium Terrace 1, Level 2

This event is being held in partnership with "Deepen the Conversation"- part of Fashion Week at the State Library Queensland-

Deepen the Conversation: Fashion and cultural identity
Fashion is an expression of cultural identity. In a multicultural society like Australia, styles are adapted and adopted across ethnic groups and into the mainstream. In the process of settlement, some new residents feel pressured to assimilate whilst others hold onto their traditional dress more tightly. What is the place of traditional dress in new lands, and what does it mean to give it up?
Join Nadia Buick in conversation with a panel of experts as they share personal stories and explore fashion as a cultural identity and how it influences what we consider to be fashion in Australia and globally.

Presented by the Romero Centre and SLQ, as part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival
